What are some culturally appropriate communication methods, styles or words?

I have the above question on my assignment and I don’t really understand it. Any suggestions would be very appreciated or even just someone putting me on the right path. Thanks so much!!!

For example, it’s culturally appropriate in most English-speaking cultures to formally and very politely address someone with Mr. or Mrs. or Miss. In Japan you’d do the same thing by adding the honorific "-san" after their name: Kiko-san, for example.
