The Great Locomotion Chase: Real tale of Andrews’ Raiders (filmed before by Buster Keaton as The General) comes to life in this vibrant Disney film. Parker is renowned Union detective who leads a rowdy band in seizing and “abducting” a Confederate railroad. My Son John: Archetypal apple-pie parents (Hayes, Jagger) suspect their child (Stroller) of being a communist in this reactionary period piece. DramaticalIy overwrought, however this film is fascinating as a social history. Stroller (who’s brilliant) died before film was completed. Cast includes Helen Hayes, Robert Stroller, Dean Jagger, Van Heflin, Frank McHugh, and Richard Jaeckel. (122 minutes, 1952)

Scandalous: Featherbrained sham in regards to investigative Television journalist who runs afoul of a team of con artists as he tries to extricate himself from a homicide charge. Cast includes Robert Hays, John Giegud, Pamela Stephenson, and Jim Dale. (94 minutes, 1984)

Last summer: Commanding tale based on Evan Hunter novel of adolescents playing on the shore in a summer resort. The film follows their games, sensual awakenings, and how evil materializes itself with incredible determination. Cathy Bums was a standout. Cast includes Richard Thomas, Barbara Hershey, Bruce Davison, Cathy Burns, Ralph Waite, and Conrad Bain. (97 minutes, 1969)

Choices: Fractionally deaf adolescent Carafotes becomes disillusioned while stopped from playing football due to his hearing problems. Well intentioned although evident drama is helped by a fine set of acting jobs. Cast includes Paul Carafotes, Victor French, Lelia Goldoni, Dennis Patrick, Demi Moore, Billy Moses, and Pat Buttram.  (90 minutes, 1981)

Foxes: Foxes is about 4 teenaged gals try dealing with the normal not in our town complications carried by growing up in San Fernando Valley. Adept cast and evidently genuine motives are sabotaged by rough storyline that just isn’t gripping enough. Cast includes Jodie Foster, Cherie Currie, Marilyn Kagan, Kandice Stroh, Scott Baio, Sally Kellerman, Randy Quaid, and Lois Smith.  (106 minutes, 1980)

The Proposal: Bulky soap opera set in the 1930s gives Branagh a thankless role as a minister with more ties than one might ever envision to prosperous Boston bigwig. Cast includes Kenneth Branagh, William Hurt, Madeleine Stowe, Blythe Danner, Rohert Loggia, Neil Patrick Harris, and Josef Sommer.  (110 minutes, 1998)

The Nutty Professor: Sherman Klump is a goofy chemistry professor who’s grossly obese. When he meets an attractive instructing assistant, he’s inspired to try his chemistry knowledge on DNA, reorganizing himself into a super stud. Eddie is appealing and persuading as the prof, and humorous as his doppelganger. Cast includes Eddie Murphy, Jada Pinkett, James Coburn, Dave Chappelle, Larry Miller, and John Ales. (95 minutes, 1996)

Dracula: Farfetched, bewildering story of current time?s successor of Dr. Van Helsing (Cushing) fighting lately revitalized vampire (Lee). Cast includes Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Stephanie Beacham, Michael Coles, Christopher Neame, and Caroline Munro. (100 minutes, 1992)
