Mobile cloud computing with Microsoft Tellme in the 2011 Ford Fiesta.

Other auto media can offer you an overview of Ford’s SYNC navigation, traffic and information services. This interview is different. I asked the Microsoft Tellme team to dive deeply into the theory behind mobile cloud computing: why it’s more effective than in-car hardware, and why the 2011 Ford Fiesta is the world’s most cloud-connected car. Why dont cars use GPS technology to give an accurate speedometer reading?

I have yet to own a car that has an accurate speedo reading. As you reach higher speeds most cars are upto 10mph faster on the speedo than you are actually doing. Yes, a backup ‘normal’ speedo would prob be needed as the odd time you may lose your signal but GPS speedos that are 100% true are the future? Lots of cars have sat navs built in so the technology is already in the car. Any ideas??
Surely mfctrs dont make their speedos show an artificially slow reading to keep the speed down?

Are Car Accessories Actually Needed?

Think about it, there are more traffic accidents every single year than the previous one and is this because people are just being careless or because many of the new car accessories are getting in the way of driving and causing people to be distracted?

Well the fact is that car accessories are actually very important because they have assisted us with our driving skills whereas others I have to say have really not been much use at all. The car mat is not really something that people think about and really it only comes into our heads when we pull out the vacuum cleaner on the car a couple of times a year and the truth is we don’t need to spend anymore time worrying about such a thing but they do actually help out.

Car mats certainly seem to have their uses and the main one is of course grip, they help keep the feet from slipping when driving. If of course you have had your car mats for a very long period of time then you will start to seem them curling up, if you get your foot stuck then an accident is likely to occur.

There are many new accessories out like the Sat Nav that have really helped out a lot of people because they save time and also there are no arguments between partners in the car, however they are a distraction and accidents have occurred that can be put down to them. This device was really released as a better alternative to a map and in most cases I would still advise you pulling over when you need to look at it.

So although those car accessories along with the very strange gap insurance and bad credit car leasing are all there to help us out, there are positives and negatives to everything.

Guys and Girls Newest Car Toys

If you haven’t noticed, driving is very popular these days and car toys and gadgets are big business. There are literally thousands of different add-ons and build-ins that people can get for their cars these days, some very clever and others just ridiculous. Let’s take a little look at 4 of the latest and greatest car toys for boys and girls.

Variable heated seats. When your in a car, especially for long periods of time, being uncomfortable or cold is never a nice experience. Heated seats have been around for a little while now, but the latest generation allows you to vary the heat for different body parts. For those people who enjoy having one leg hotter than the other, or a warm lower back, but cool neck…then this is the gadget for you my friend. These make ideal Christmas presents as well as they are perfect for winter months.

360 TV. Guys like watching TV, fact. That said, they cannot enjoy it whilst driving around as men are terrible at multi tasking, as well as the fact it is very illegal. Well now men can have the best of both worlds as cameras mounted on every angle of the car relay images to a screen in front of the driver.Checking out other cars and reversing round corners is now simple as pie.

Makeup mirror
. Probably more gifts for girls these things, rear-view mirrors that flip over to reveal a magnifying mirror, perfect for checking the makeup and applying lipstick. It’s probably best to only use these when you’re parked however, just to be on the safe side.

Sound effects horn
. What man doesn’t dream about having a porsche in the garage or an air force helicopter in the garden. Unfortunately, unless you’re a millionaire or a helicopter pilot, you’re going to have to settle for a multi-effect car horn. These brilliant gifts for men can replicate over 100 cool sounds, including explosions, super car sounds and animal noises. In some areas these may not be entirely road legal, but that doesn’t mean you can drive up and down your drive, scaring the skin off your cat and neighbours with it.

Nitro Radio Control Cars

At some point in your childhood you will remember your first experience playing with radio control models. Girl’s sorry if your reading this and thinking no I don’t. I certainly remember my first experience it was playing with an old off-road electric remote control (RC) car at my local park. It was so much fun trying to make it go as fast as possible then of course flipping it over and breaking it, but nevertheless a lot of fun! That day sparked my passion for RC cars and I have never looked back since.

In my opinion speed is everything! For people who are just starting I would recommend to go electric they have good top speeds and are very easy to maintain. Electric Cars are cheaper and also much easier to maintain and allow you to build your confidence before you tackle trickier models.

For outright speed RC nitro cars is the only this to go for! They provide so much more speed than electric cars however there not easy to maintain. You’re going to need to maintain the air cleaners, glo-plugs etc for nitro cars because of their nitro engines. The parts in a Nitro car operate in a similar way to a fuel car and this does have its benefits. Nitro engines have clutches and do take time to spool up. As a result you also get the benefit of the car actually sounding like a normal car not a toy! They can be driven for longer periods and only take a few seconds to be refuelled. The amount of time and the knowledge needed will scare people however I personally could never go back to electric. Although if you do feel you can put in the time to maintain these cars I don’t think you will regret it, the speed and the amount of fun to be had driving them is second to none!

Speed is the Most Important Factor when Buying a Remote Control Car

At some point in your childhood you will remember your first experience playing with radio control models. Admittedly I think more boys will remember this memory than girls but I think that’s expected. I certainly remember my first experience it was playing with an old off-road electric remote control (RC) car at my local park. I remember enjoying driving it far too fast for what it could handle and of course breaking it! That day sparked my passion for RC cars and I have never looked back since.

Speed for me has always been number 1 on my list! For people wanting to get started straight away and not wanting to have read and learn about how maintain a RC I would recommend going for an electric car. You don’t need to spend loads of cash on cars to achieve good speed, I would recommend starting with an electric car which is easy to maintain and quick as well as also allowing you to build your knowledge.

For outright speed RC nitro cars is the only this to go for! Nitro cars go so much faster than electric but do need a lot more upkeep. Nitro Cars have fully engines similar to your fuel car so parts such as air cleaners, glo-plugs etc are going to need maintaining. They have the benefit (or downfall) of operating a lot more a like a normal fuel car than electric cars do. There engines take time to spool up and the clutch to engage and they sound like normal cars! Nitro cars have the beneft of only taking seconds to refuel and also lasting a long duration than their electric counterparts. For me it’s these reasons why I like them so much however I know for other people this would be turn off. Although if you do feel you can put in the time to maintain these cars I don’t think you will regret it, the speed and the amount of fun to be had driving them is second to none!

Intelligent Car Technology From Japan

If you are asked which country you thought were at the forefront of technology advancement and innovation, you would probably think of Japan first. They have also been big players in the car markets for a long time, with their products being respected for their build quality, usability and reliability. It should come as no surprise then to learn that a Japanese auto-tech company has recently been in talks with some of the largest automobile companies in the world, including Ford and Chrysler, to provide their cars with the latest “intelligent” computer systems.

There is nothing revolutionary about a micro-chip in a car, they have in fact been used to control things like ABS and traction control for a long time now. A couple of years back cars started to made that could self- monitor a great deal more elements than simply fuel levels and engine temperature. They could now report on tire pressures, chassis forces, multicore cables and even road surface conditions. The company in Japan known as Copal Electronics have taken the micro chip to the next level however and using new solenoids technology developed a car that can not only look after itself but can learn. If the car is driven around a corner in the wet at 30mph for example, and the rear wheels slide out, the car will note the road surface condition, speed, tire pressures, corning angle, weight of the car and many other factors and then make very subtle changes to things such as the circuit breakers sensitivity so that the same does not happen again.

Experts have said that as the technology develops and the cars have been learning for a good few years, they will eventually be able to preempt and avoid all sorts of driving problems and accidents. We may not see it in everyday cars for a few years yet as it needs to be tested fully by manufacturers, but when it does arrive it is sure to make driving a whole lot easier.

Let Your Vehicle Run on Air

We all come to realise that authorities around the planet are looking for ways to clean up the roads, for a huge amount of time petrol guzzling machines have been hurting the atmosphere and somethings needs to be done about it. We are seeing a vast increase in electric run cars which could send the fuel vehicles to the side lines. But in around a decade or so could we actually be driving air based vehicles?

Although you would probably smile at the idea of an air based car, you should think again because one has been built that runs at about 30MPH andgoes about an hour on a single charge. So now you are thinking to yourself great but I bet I can never afford one, again that is simply not true. The price of the vehicle is only about £3k.

The new vehicles will also be created of fibre glass, which not only helps the planet, but it is much more versatile and light. The environment is currently being taken very seriously, as everyone knows the devastating affects that global warming can bring to the world. I personally feel that within the next couple of decades, we are going to see an end to pollution, I mean technology is progressing so fast that we will come up with a method soon.

Throughout the world there are millions of cars in use every single day, these vehicles get topped up with fuel and then burn it into the clean air, if things do not improve, within the next few years we could see the weather change a dramatic amount around us. Some countries would collapse from the heat and others from the cold.
