How can countries in Africa, Asia, Indonesia and America communicate on phone lines when there are oceans in between them? Not talking about Satellite because they are relatively new but what about land lines, home phone lines? Do they put telephone poles in the Ocean? How???confused
What about cell phones? how do they communicate across oceans? Do they have towers in the ocean?

Does a cordless home telephone exists that incorporates multiple cell phones via bluetooth?

I do not think it exists yet (though Panasonic has come close), but perhaps I am wrong. I was looking to see if a cordless home telephone yet existed that allowed not only a landline connection for regular telephone use, but also bluetooth connections simultaneously to multiple cellular telephones.

From a practical standpoint, this would allow a home telephone, and also allow family members to leave their cell phones (likely near the base I would assume) and also allow their cellular telephones to ring on the house telephone.

Also–I do imagine this exists with business systems, that are likely very expensive. My question is really whether residential versions have been developed yet.

Look After Your Mobile Phone

We never think it will happen to us, and then it does. In my case, twice. I am, of course, talking about losing my mobile phone.

The first time I lost my mobile was clearly due to too many drinks on a boys night out. I’d been using my phone while on my homeward journey in a taxi and I must have left it on the back seat of the cab. The following morning, when I realized what had happened, I called the cab firm only to hear that my phone had not been found. It suddenly became very clear how much of my life was actually stored on that little device.

I vowed that I would be far more careful in future and get myself some mobile phone insurance to cover the cost of replacement. The expense was actually the last thing on my mind as I’d lost a whole load of important telephone numbers and contact details that weren’t stored anywhere else.

We all do it. When we run into an old friend or make a new contact we immediately enter their contact details into our mobile phones and often don’t even think about transfering those details to an address book.

The second time I lost my mobile phone was on another night out but this time I wasn’t the worse for drink. I am convinced that my phone was stolen by an expert pick-pocket who managed to remove my telephone from the pocket of my jeans without me noticing. The truth is that I probably dropped it on the floor when removing cash to pay for drinks at the bar. I told the nightclub staff but, not surprisingly, my phone never re-appeared.

Unfortunately I had not taken out the mobile phone insurance policy that I’d said I would. But, subsequent to my previous experience I had kept a record of all the new phone numbers and contact details that were on the device so the loss wasn’t quite as disastrous as it had been the previous time.

Is there a moral to this tale? Not really. But I strongly suggest that you backup all of your telephone contact details and maybe get yourself some insurance to cover the cost of a replacement.

What You Can Expect To See In The Latest Mobile Phones

Cell phone technology comes on leaps and bounds all the time. It doesn’t seem such a long time ago that we were all gasping as phones that had the Internet, an touch screen has only really just become mainstream. Some cynics claim that cell phone producers only wheel technology out that they have a had for a long time when they want people to buy a new phone.  This may be true but it is still the case that phone technology is moving forwards at an alarming rate and it’s amazing how much Winchester electronics they are now stuffing in those little boxes. So which are the latest gadgets to storm the cell phone world?

Projectors. Rather than squinting at a tiny phone screen, how would you like to watch movies on your mobile movies on a 50″ display? Well the latest phones are offering just that and include a powerful built-in projector using LED filament replacements that can be used to project any image visible on the screen. The most commercial phone to offer this is the Samsung I7410. A phone that will be hitting shelves in the UK and US very soon. There is even talk of a newer version that uses new trackside communications cable technology that projects HD images.

Friend location. If you would like to know where you friends are at all times that Apple might have the application for you. Their newest developments include a function that allows you to pinpoint anyone on a visual map who is linked up to your phone. You’ll be happy to know that people have to opt in for this service so people cannot just see where you are automatically, although caution is still advised.

Back Up Your Cell Phone Today

If you’re in business you’ll understand the importance of personal contacts. These days we use our mobile telephones as electronic personal assistants to store all of these vital business contact details, to do lists, appointments and reminders. But do we ensure that our valuable business data is backed up in case our phones are lost or damaged?

Mobile phone providers have estimated that fewer than 15% of users actually back up their telephone data. Its worth taking a few moments to consider what would happen if you lost all of the contact details you have on your mobile phone. Consider if you have all of these vital details stored safely elsewhere?

These days I don’t take any risks and backup my telephone data every day. This is a new routine for me that only began after I’d lost my last mobile phone while hiking. The impact of this loss was enormous. I’d accumulated numerous contacts whose details were held solely on my mobile phone. The cost to my business of my losing these was immense. These days I backup my phone data every day. And I have my phone covered with mobile phone insurance to pay for a replacement the next time I lose it, which is bound to happen sooner or later.

If you are now worried about how to back up your phone data it should simply be a matter of taking a look at the applications that came with your phone. If it’s a Sony, Nokia or similar then you will have been provided with a disk full of applications that will include the facility to copy all of your telephone data to your computer. If you ever lose or replace your phone it should be a simple matter of copying the data back from your computer to your replacement handset.

Mobile Phones Due To Shrink Yet Again

Cell (mobile) phones have been on a serious diet since their conception well over a decade ago. They have moved from being the size of fax machine to items no bigger than a cigarette lighter in many cases. However, phones began to take on new more advanced roles such as Internet browsing and being MP3 players, and this led to something of a turnaround for handset sizes. Handsets such as the iphone and other ’smart’ phones did have improved styling, but are considerably larger than many of the previous generation handsets. However, this is soon set to change.

There is no longer a need to have every one of your phone’s files and functional programs loaded onto your handset, and this is down to advances in wireless and 3G connectivity. What would happen is that information and programs would be streamed into the phone from an external source only when you request them. This then allows phones to essentially act like shells, that can be used for different things at different times, just by feeding different information into them.

A central hub will be needed and this can be either be located in your home or with your service provider. This hub will contain all your programs, songs, pictures etc, and will be able to feed them to your phone in an instant. You will still need a certain amount of hardware in the phone, such as a camera and other electrical components, but you will be able to save huge amounts of space where memory, processors and mini ac fans would normally be found. This means then that phones could be not much bigger than cable ties and you could even wear them as accessories such on a necklace or as a wrist-band. Breaking free of the weight and size that phones have had to comply with in years gone by could spawn a whole new era for them.

It was here I had read about HTC Hero, one of the latest Android devices, which is known for its ease of usability, and few other features. And now next in the line of HTC device is HTC Legend.

HTC legend is not completely different from Hero, but it has few better functions. In fact, HTC Legend is an upgraded version of HTC Hero.  There is no change in the screen size and resolution of the two devices; it is in the display of the phones that the major actual comes. And HTC Legend will be the first mobile phone to have an AMOLED touch screen.

Intro To AMOLED Touchscreen:

AMOLED is an Active matrix organic light emitting diode. It is used for display technologies in mobile phones.

Apart from having AMOLED touch screen, HTC Legend will also have a very quick Qualcomm processor. The launch date of the phone has yet not been announced, but it will be brought out sometime in Feb, 2010, followed by Google phone and Xperia10.  The cost of the phone is yet to be disclosed.  Before Hero was launched, there was HTC Tattoo (it ran on the Operating System Android 1.6) where one could customize everything as per your requirement.  In short, HTC tattoo was a Smartphone.

Below are a few specs of the phone (HTC Legend)

Quad-band GSM/EDGE, dual band WCDMA/HSPA (900/2100)
3.2? HVGA AMOLED capacitive touch screen
Android 2.x
600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor

Sony Ericsson Launches Two New Phones

Recently Samsung had brought out an eco-friendly cell phone, the Samsung Blue Earth, which is made out of recycled materials and its usage doesn’t harm the environment. The phone truly is good but has few not very acceptable things – for being eco-friendly the phone had to compromise on its looks and features. And now we are soon going to see two phones from Sony Ericsson, which are also eco-friendly and assures not to spoil or damage the environment, and all without trading its designs and functionality with the environmental care it brings with it. Yes, Hazel and Elm, the two going to be introduced Sony Ericsson mobile phones are both prepared from recycled plastics and are not harmful to the surroundings. Some good news for the environmentalists.

Hazel and Helm, as these two cell phones are named, are not very different in nature, only the size of the screen and dimensions vary a little. Most of the functions are almost similar among the two phones. Take a quick look at features of Hazel and Elm:

Features of Hazel:

2.6? TFT touchscreen, 240 x 320 pixels
5MP camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection
Bluetooth V2.1 with A2DP

micro SD  support up to 16GB

Accelerometer sensor

Splash-resistant

Little aboutElm:

3G, HSDPA 900 / 2100
2.2? TFT, 240 x 320 pixels
5MP camera with autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, face and smile detection
Bluetooth V2.1 with A2DP
micro USB v2.0

Sony is to  launch both these phones in only two colors – each in two different colors. Hazel is mostly to be in Black or Rouge. And Elm will be in Metal Black or Pearly Rose. The phones will be launched in early months of 2010. And hopefully users like the two phones, and more of it gets used. And perhaps this may mark the beginning of all and only eco-friendly cell phones in the market.

Palm Pre Or Droid Or iPhone 3GS Or Corby?

The year many good being introduced in the market. There were few eco friendly cell phones too, like the Samsung Blue Earth which is made out of recycled plastic and is said to be environment friendly. Also, the year had controvercial Satio and Aino, which after being launched had to be taken off the shelves. In short, 2009 was a year of mobile phones. So now that the year is about to end, how about buying one of those cell phones you have been reading a lot about. Okay, you are confused as to which one to buy? Well, take a good look at all the phones listed below that make the best buy of 2009.

Palm Pre -

May not be the best mobile phone, but its WebOS along with its design makes Palm Pre a cell phone to buy.

Samsung Corby -

At the outset, let me state that Samsung Corby is no very helpful cell phone when it comes to its features. It’s the phone’s design and looks that make it worth purchase. So those who love to show off their mobile phones among friends and colleagues, then Samsung Corby is just the right phone.

iPhone 3GS -

One of the best smartphones the market has. There are apps, there is Internet, and there is good looks…and yes, a good price tag too. Keeping aside the price, iPhones 3GS is perhaps the best cell phone one should buy this holiday season.

Motorola Droid:

Droid brought back Motorola’s lost lustre. The Droid has been awarded the Times gadget of the year and also the best Android device. Now that is something really prestigious for Motorola Droid.

Nokia E72:

Many Nokia models were introduced. The latest and the best one is E72 which in many ways is better or equal to a BlackBerry. Yes, you read it right. Nokia E72 could give BlackBerry a tough competition. You may want to check out more here – Why Nokia Could Outdo BlackBerry.
