Read Books and Newpapers Through a Wireless Reading Device
Posted by 0845 Telephone Numbers in General on December 22nd, 2009
A lot of people are using a wireless reading device. I have known these for several months because I own a store wherein electronics are included in my sales. Also, I became one of those avid readers and owner of a wireless device.
The Sony’s PRS – 505 Portable Digital e-Reader and the Amazon’s Kindle are two of the most purchased wireless reading devices bought in my store and throughout the United States. Because of the unique and great features, no wonder why many people are using and buying devices like this every day.
The Silver Digital e-Reader (PRS – 505) manufactured by Sony has a slender body design weighing only 9 ounces. Its electronic paper display gives a quicker response for comfortable reading. Through the CONNECT eBook online store, you can buy books as well as to sychronize books and other documents to your computer. This device can hold hundreds of books, Adobe PDFs, plus txt, rtf, bmp, jpeg, gif, png and Microsoft Word files because of its internal memory of 192MB, 2GB SD memory card and Memory Stick Duo media that can hold up to 8GB. Hence, this wireless reading device is a digital library which can be carried anywhere.
Another unique wireless reading device is the Kindle launched by Amazon. This reading device can hold up to thousands of books, newspapers, magazines, documents and blogs. Heavier of 1.3 ounces, the Kindle doesn’t need to use a computer to synchronize books. Just download online right through the Kindle itself within less than a minute. There are also a built-in dictionary and an access to the common online encyclopedia which is the Wikipedia. Now, book lovers can read the Kindle anywhere even under the bright sunny sun because of its electronic-paper display. The high-resolution screen and adjustable text size are features that add comfort to the reader.
The text-to-speech feature of this Kindle is what I like the most. I can have a story time with my children as we listen together through this mode. My kids also like to read books using my Kindle. There were times my young kids borrow my Kindle. I allow them to use it so they could build a greater interest in reading books.
Since these reading devices are created for readers on-the-move, anyone would be having a fun travel. Other people claim that they have been captivated to read during their spare time. Like among them, I used to read in my store while waiting for customers to buy. There were times that people asked me about the device I was holding. Most of them admitted that it’s their first time to see a wireless reading device. This was the approach I made to share them the features of the wireless reading device.
I usually share to many people about the great features of these wireless reading devices. Kindle, Digital eReader and other wireless reading devices have helped thousands of people in accessing the best-selling books and latest news.
Since the release of these wireless reading devices, more people became enthusiast in reading. My relatives and friends began reading books using these reading devices. I believe that most people would soon grab one of the best wireless reading devices.
Will Amazon Adopt The ePub Format In Future?
Posted by 0845 Telephone Numbers in General on September 23rd, 2009
After an extended period of domination by Amazon, it seems that the e-book marketplace is about to see genuine competition at last. We may even see even the replacement of the Amazon Kindle reader as the market leader.
In terms of the e-book reader devices themselves, a number of manufacturers are preparing to launch new hardware – some before the end of the year, some early in 2010. Sony have recently announced the launch of three new readers. Probably the most significant of these is the Sony Daily Edition reader, which will launch in December 2009, has touch screen functionality, wireless 3g connectivity and will allow users to download e-books “on loan” from their local lending library.
Other manufacturers, including Plastic Logic and Apple, will have new readers on offer in the near future.
However, as important as the technical specification of the various reader devices is likely to be, it may not be the deciding factor. Currently, the ability to select an e-book from Amazon’s vast library of titles (in excess of 300,000 and growing daily) is a big selling point for them. There are more than 300,000 e-books for the Kindle available on Amazon’s website. The drawback is that you need to purchase all your e-books from Amazon. Further, if you subsequently decide to change your reader to a different type, then you are currently unable to take your e-books with you. This might be available in future perhaps, but just at the moment it’s very much a case of Kindle reader, Kindle books. Put it another way – it’s a closed system.
Other manufacturers seem to be moving towards a common e-book format – called ePub, which is different to that used by Amazon. This would give users the ability to freely transfer e-books between different readers. It would also let them buy and download books from a wide selection of different retailers. It would give them more freedom to choose.
If this move goes ahead, and it seems likely that it will, then it’s not out of the question that what is currently a feather in Amazon’s cap, their huge collection of Kindle books, may become a liability. Of course, it would not be possible for Amazon to make their Kindle titles compatible with whatever format is eventually selected by the industry, either by means of a translation facility or simply by adopting whatever standard is defined.
Whether or not Amazon are able to retain their current dominant position, it looks very much as if the e-book market is going to have some strong competition in future and that industry standards will be put in place sooner rather than later. All of this is good news for consumers.
