A Guide To Fixing Computer Errors

Computer problems and errors are an inevitable part of having a computer, and, unless you set about preventing and repairing them, your computer can soon reach the point where it is frustrating at best, and unusable at worst. So, what can you do to make sure that your computer is error free?

First of all, you should defragment your hard disk using the free disk fragmenter that comes with Windows, and which can be accessed via your Control Panel. The point of doing this is to condense all of your files, which makes it easier to find and repair the errors.

Next, you should run an anti-virus program, as lots of computer problems and errors can be traced back to viruses, worms and trojan horses. There is no need to purchase an expensive program though, as free ones, such as Avast or AVG, can be downloaded and work effectively. Also, consider supplementing your anti-virus program with one that specifically targets adware and spyware, such as Malwarebytes.

Any problems with damaged memory, which typically show themselves in the form of system crashes, sudden restarts, or the ‘blue screen of death’, will require special software to resolve. Despite the complex nature of the problems though, these tools are easy enough to use and, after running them, you can expect the performance of your computer to be greatly enhanced.

Another common reason for computer errors (particularly EXE, DLL and Driver errors) is invalid or corrupt entries within the your system registry. The registry of your computer is accessed and updated every time you perform a task, so any problems within it will significantly slow down the overall speed with which you can do what you need to do.

To fix computer errors that are related to the registry, you have to do regular registry scans, so that all the unwanted data can be detected and deleted. This can be achieved with the assistance of a registry cleaner device. These devices perform various registry maintenance tasks such as removing harmful spyware and virus registry data, scanning and repairing plenty of computer and registry errors, performing registry backup and defragging the registry.

As computer errors can sometimes be quite complicated, the information and advice given here may not resolve all of your errors, and you may need to undertake some additional online research. There are plenty of websites that concentrate on computer basics and troubleshooting. However, make sure that you only take advice from reliable, secure and trusted sites.

Home Computing – Making Your Computer Run Faster

The main point of a computer is to be able to do tasks quicker than you would otherwise be able to do them. Therefore, the speed at which your computer runs is important, and when it slows down due to errors and problems, it is something that must be resolved.

Fortunately, making your computer run faster is no great mystery, and is something that anyone can do with a little time and effort. The first steps to take are as follows…

– Run a disk cleanup
– Uninstall programs no longer in use (especially ones that run when your system starts up)
– Defragment the drive

Doing these three things won’t take long at all, and you will definitely notice that your computer boots faster, and applications load more quickly, afterwards.

The next step to making your computer faster is to stop some programs from auto-starting. This can be done by clicking Start in the bottom left corner of the screen and then clicking on Run, and typing ‘msconfig’ at the command prompt.

This command shows the list of all the programs that are loaded when you start up your computer. You will probably see that there are lots of programs that you don’t need. You can simply turn off any programs that are useless. It is however important to keep the anti-virus and other important system components enabled.

The next step is to clean your computer registry. A registry cleaning program will remove various unused files from the system, and free up valuable hard disk space, making Windows run faster.

Next, run a full anti-spyware and anti-virus scan. There are a few free programs such as Malwarebytes and AVG free anti-virus that are very effective in doing this task.

If your computer is still slow, it might be time to reformat the hard drive, and reinstall the applications. Another option is to upgrade your hard drive, which may seem extreme, but the storage capacity of the hard disk can hinder the performance of any computer and, over time, magnetic disks also degrade.
