Is it true that people in the medical profession, ie GPs don't endorse homeopathic remedies?

Speaking generally here, of course, but this is what I have always heard. Our GP does not endorse any homeopathic treatments but wondered if this is a trend.

Is it true that GPs can charge you money (£25 in my case) for providing a reference for passport application?

I’ve been with my GP for 3 years and the receptionist informed me about this.. She said she can even provide a receipt and I will have to leave the form for 2 days for reference to be filled and signed in.

Apart from keeping hypochondriacs and other attention seekers out of GPs' offices, what good does quackery do?

"AS GP’s are always complaining that they are overworked and have too many people who are not sick complaining they are ill they really should be thanking altmed practitioners for taking this load off them."

My point exactly. Let the people with nonexistent illnesses, take nonexistent treatments.

PS I ran out of letters
SCORPIAN: that witty comeback reminds me of primary school :-)

How much do GPs earn in the UK? What about specialists like anesthesiologist or surgeons?

I am arguing with my professor about the movie Sicko! and he says that salaries (or total compensation if you include things like private practice outside the NHS) are very low (almost poor), but he cannot show me any statistics, and it seems he is arguing with hearsay (like the GP in sicko! who earned L85k/year.

What kinds of surgical procedures are GPs allowed to carry out?

I hope you can help me out on this one! It’s for a health and social assignment I am doing…and I need to write about the treatment areas a GP provides, and surgical is one of them!

Thanking you in anticipation

What do you think when GPs work Privately as well as NHS?

It must be very convienient for them when your treatment is taking too long to get or the treatment drags on longer than it needed to, and still no treatment over 41/2 years later down the line, and still waiting…………………………

Maybe if they mess you about long enough you will go Private were they can get paid again. And drag it out further there too.

The GP’s seem to run the show sapping NHS resources and the publics money so they can do what they please.

And when you complain it will take much, much more than a year for you to get answers. And still no real answers, and still waiting……………………..

Funny that! Eh?

Are the GP’s wasting all the publics money putting NHS Hospitals into dept?

Or are they just being run by the drug companies nowadays?
IMPORTANT NOTICE: On more than one occasion GP’s recepionists have lied to me and Consultants and their Staff also.
At my old Doctors surgery there was a room upstairs where some patients were being directed to. I had to book an appointment with an alternate GP because I was told the GP I requested was not in that day. Whilst waiting for my turn I saw him the missing Doctor go up those stairs.

Why does anyone need GPs now we have the internet?

1. Anyone can diagnose a condition online by Google, with better accuracy than a GP.
2. You can easily find the drugs you need that can be dispensed by a chemist.

What the hell are we doing paying GPs all that money for? To drink tea and write a prescription? In 10 years the modern world wont need Gps.
