The furthest i have got is some sort of swedish operator that talks for 10 seconds and then goes dead and hangs up. Please tell me how do i phone this mobile as it is very important.

I am on the light user scheme, which means I never use my landline, only maybe once a twice every few weeks. I am interested in getting broadband, but I desperately want to stay on the light user scheme so that I’m not paying over the odds just for broadband.
Do you know if I can do this?
Should we Keep our Home Phones?

I was reading a report the former day about Australia. Fundamentally the nation has declared that up to two million people could be ditching their set line home phones. In Australia mobile phone subscribers has already over taken fixed home lines.
In this new day and age though are set home line really necessary and are they even needed anymore? Let us take a brief look at it all.
Battery
Home phones are very different from mobile phones. Personally I carry my mobile telephone in my pocket throughout the day, so the battery is not really as reliable as a house cordless phone which constantly sits on charge.
Signal
Mobile phones on some occasions still are a bit shaky; voice clarity is nowhere near that of fixed line phones in the household.
Cheaper Calls
I know that a lot of people are now on a contract based phone which allows a certain amount of free benefits, but land line calls are still a lot cheaper, especially to numbers such as 0800 numbers and 0845s.
The Number
The thing about having a land line is the fact that you have one major global number in hand. A lot of people would much kind of call land lines, because it is a lot less cost effective. As well as this there are so many more benefits such as if you have your mobile phone on mute, people can still get hold of you on land lines.
So personally no, I do not feel that getting rid of land lines is the thing to do at the here and now, I think in the next decade then maybe so. When costs are lower to communicate and technology is more improved.
