Virtual Wireless LAN: Handling Mobility with Virtual Cell

Unlike traditional wifi networks where devices see dozens or even hundreds of access points all operating on different channels, clients now see only one virtualized point of access for the entire network – a virtual cell. This virtualization allows devices to continue to think they’re in control while allowing the network to manage connections for the optimal access points. The result is a single seamless layer of coverage that eliminates the boundaries created by a hub like patchwork of access points. Users and their devices move freely without disruptive handoffs because every access point shares a single-channel and all appear as one. For more info visit: www.merunetworks.com
