Some days back Nokia filed a complaint against Apple for patent infringement. The lawsuit against Apple isn’t for just one particular product, but for most Apple products. Nokia claims that Apple has allegedly applied Nokia’s user interface, digital cameras, antennas and power management to design its products.

Recent Incident

This is not the first time that Nokia has alleged Apple of violating the patent rights. Just some days before this incident, Nokia has filed a lawsuit to US ITC(International Trade Commission) against Apple. And Apple had reverted with identical patent infringement complaint against Apple. A bit after Nokia’s sue, Apple went public and stated that Nokia had infringed 13 of Apple’s patents.

This past year in 2009, Apple did impressive business and sold about millions of units by the end of the year. What’s more, it is said, Apple couldn’t meet the increased demands from its users. And just as the year begun, there was something annoying waiting for it.

Nokia claims it’s got close to 1000 patent fillings (Nokia). And that Apple has duplicated Nokia’s work not just for one product but for all their products.

In case Nokia wins the case, Apple will need to withdraw selling its products that come under patent infringement– which will be dreadful both for Apple and Apple clients. Remember, though, the issue would take several years to resolve. And who knows in the meanwhile, yet other players will be in news for a similar situation. Let’s wait and watch which will be next cellular organization|brand to get into the dispute and what the allegation will be.
