Science h/w on wireless and wired communication systems due tomorrow?

I’m only asking this because it’s due tomorrow and I couldn’t find info on this anywhere.

Compare the wireless and wired communication systems, including:
- cable vs satellite tv
- mobile/cordless phones vs plug-in phones
- fibre optic broadband vs a wifi network

For each case, explain how the signal travels at each part of the process and what the advantages and disadvantages of each are. Why is one used in preference to the other?

All About the Superfan Package

DirecTV is marking third quarter of 2008 with a great deal on their NFL Sunday Ticket plan. The regular season for the NFL doesn’t start until September, but training camp starts in late July for most NFL teams, and the pre-season games start in August. Maybe you have passed on the Sunday Ticket deal in the past. If so, now is the time to find the best deals out there, as this is the start of the busy time of year for DirecTV.

Now if you haven’t heard of this tremendous package, here are the details on DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket. Designed as the premium football viewing package, it is designed to give you viewing access to every single NFL game. In most cases, most viewers will see four or five games a week on network television, the Sunday morning and afternoon games, the Sunday Night game, and then Monday night football.

Now if you reside in the area where “your” home team plays, you can usually see your team play on network TV. However, if you don’t live in that market, you would have to make a trip down to the local bar to watch your team’s game. Since Direct TV began the Sunday Ticket package a few years back, you can always see your local team play, right from your own couch.

While out of area fans make up a strong base for the NFL Sunday Ticket, there are other fans that need this package as well. Fantasy football enthusiasts have been subscribing to the package, as it lets them keep up on their fantasy players at any time. Another group buying up the package is those who may have a little money on NFL games. They love the Direct TV Sunday Ticket as it lets them keep up on who covers the spread.

What about price? In past years, the NFL Sunday ticket package cost has been around $250 per season, billed over 4 monthly installments. This year’s price for existing DirecTV subscribers will be almost $300 dollars. Those who sign up in time get a $20 discount.

New Direct TV subscribers can take advantage of the promotion on the Sunday Ticket. Current offers bill the same price $74.99 per month for 4 months, with a great start up bonus. New subscribers signing up for NFL Sunday Ticket can get the DirecTV Premier package free for 4 months.  If you want the Superfan bundle though, you will have to pay an extra $100 for HD.  This is DirecTV’s top end package, with 265 stations, 35 sports stations, and also free movie channels.

Free DVR service is also included and a Direct TV DVR upgrade rounds out this great offer on dish television service.

DIRECTV Arabic Programming packages

DIRECTV has reached out the ever increasing Western audience of Arabic speakers over the last several years, and I would like to talk just a little about the benefits that they offer. In addition, I will touch on the DIRECTV Arabic programming channels and what shows they have on; just what you can expect in general from this powerhouse of satellite TV communications and broadcast.

For only about $30 you can get watch completely different Arabic language television channels through Direct TV. This has never before been possible, so if you get it you will truly be a revolutionary. They even have a name for this offering, which is Arabic Direct. Before ordering you will have to ask your company representative if part of your package will be to get Al-Jazeera. They may not want to advertise the fact, because of the wary eyes of native Americans onto this channel. But we all know that that is the top Arab network; bringing great news and with a real eye into the Arab and Muslim community like no other media and communications company.

Here is what channels you will get (although these may be subject to change, check before ordering): Orbit Al-Yawm, Rotana Zaman, Orbit Seen, Rotana Cinema, and Rotana Moossika which is obviously a great Arab music station. You can put it on and dance around your living room and feel all the greatness of the Arab culture. That is truly a great lineup of entertainment to the max! Movies and just about everything else you will need is all here.

Now, it bears repeating that the stations that are part of this DIRECTV Arabic programming are literally being beamed right into your house via satellite all the way from the heart of the Middle East. These aren’t pretend channels. They are the real deal.

Now the last thing that needs to be reviewed is the fact that before you get these five Arabic satellite stations you will have to first order the basic package of Direct TV. This may not really cost you that much. And although you may not watch those basic TV stations, it won’t necessarily cost much to get them and then you’ll be able to access ArabicDirect. One last thing is that I would look out for DIRECTV’s Arab programs to expand as time goes on; they obviously want to get in on your market, which is growing ever more every single day with emigration and the general moving of all populations all over in this mobile century. The alternative of course if you can not find exactly what you need is the Arabic on Dish Network option, also available via satellite TV.

Direct TV or Charter Cable Service

Two of the big companies in the cable television landscape today are Charter cable and DIRECTV satellite television.  If these big media companies are on options for you when it comes to choosing a satellite or cable company, you may be confused about what they claim to offer, and how much it is going to cost. The smart thing to do is sit down and make a chart of what each company offers, and of course price out the services including everything they offer.  Here are a couple of points to factor in when shopping for Charter cable against satellite.

HD Channels – While both cable and satellite now offer hi def content, Dish beats Charter cable quite handily as far as the actual number of channels. Direct TV promotes they have 130 hi definition networks, but on close examination that number is inflated.  They in reality have around 90 when you take out the pay per view stations. Charter TV maxes out at 60 in the best case, and many areas have far fewer HD channels depending on the network. Using the DVR by Charter will help you save more high definition content.

Sports content – You will be able to find lots of sports content with either provider, as both carry all of the local networks and ESPN. But if you want out of market sports content, DirecTV satellite is the way to go. They have exclusive rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket bundle, but it doesn’t stop there.  Other packages found on satellite but missing from Charter include the NBA League Pass and the NASCAR Hotpass serires.

Bundled options – One downfall of satellite TV service is that they do not have the ability to compete with Charter service when it comes to the triple play. Charter can offer bundled services which also add internet access and long distance calling through your home phone. Combining these services with your cable television company is convenient as far as billing and customer service issues.

So which service is the right one for your situation? Of course only you can make the final decision.  While HD channels and out of market sports programming may be top priorities for some of us, they aren’t a big deal to others. Evaluating both services and the prices involved will insure that you make the correct decision for your particular situation.

Direct TV Holiday Offer

Ever since its creation, Americans have always been fascinated by the television. It is a worldwide phenomenon and is currently the leading form of media ahead of print media and radio media. Although the internet has taken away some interest, the television is still the top source of all news and entertainment programs we all love and crave. From cartoons to reality shows to TV series, they all occupy our time and keep us entertained. There are a lot of different shows available however not all television providers give us all the shows we want or sometimes give more than we want. Good thing there are a number of television providers to choose from.

If having local television just doesn’t work for you then the next option is to subscribe to a cable company. There are a lot of different packages cable companies offer and they have different channels. It may be Time Warner cable, Cox, Comcast cable, Charter cable or Bright House cable, they have different packages to offer and it depends solely upon your choice as to which one is the best.

Then there is a choice of satellite television providers between Dish network and Direct TV. Satellite television offers the most choices of channels and programs and they usually have more of the channels then cable television has. However, this is the most expensive choice as you have to buy a satellite receiver, unless there is a promotion. This is the time of year when there is a DIRECTV offer out there designed to get you set up at a very low cost, or no cost at all.

Whatever your taste may be, there are a lot of different choices you can choose from to satisfy your every day television needs. One of the smart things to do before selecting a pay TV provider is to compare services. A great low price option out there on the market is the Direct TV Choice. Doing a side by side comparison of Direct TV versus Comcast will give you an idea of which company gives you the channels and services you want. That way you can determine whether you want cable or satellite television. Of course, keep an eye on things as at any time there could be a change in Direct TV charges.

That way you can be sure your family is happy with their entertainment choice.

U-verse a New HD Option

These days folks are seeking to maximize their entertainment dollar. Increasing fuel prices, a slowing economy, and high food prices are putting the squeeze on citizens. Luckily, one of the great buys in entertainment is your cable or satellite television service.

If you take a moment and think about it, you can get a bundle including over 200 channels including commercial-free movie channels like HBO and Starz for about $110 dollars a month. That is less than you typically spend for dinner and a first run movie. The latest technology in the pay TV market is HD, or high definition programming. What should you evaluate when hooking up that new flat screen TV you just bought?

Remember that your basic cable television or satellite TV service is not in hi-def. You have to specifically purchase a package that includes this type of programming. So where do smart shoppers begin?

Make a call to your current provider and find out exactly what they offer as far as HD service. Satellite television companies DISH Network and DirecTV have been leading the pack as far as providing the most high definition when you look at channel counts. Cable TV providers like Time Warner also have some nice offerings, including HD on-demand. Find out exactly how much upgrading to HD will be, and if you need additional equipment. Comparing against satellite DVR units is important.

If what they are offering is not what you want, do a little comparison shopping. The newest offerings include an all hi-def package from DISH Network called TurboHD. Direct TV offers HD service for just $9.99 per month. Charges per month vary with cable TV companies across America, so you will have to call your cable operator to see what the price is for HD service.

Another factor to consider is that many telephone companies now provide television service. AT&T now provides their UVerse service in many areas along with voice and DSL. Verizon is also expanding their network, providing their fiber service FiOS in some neighborhoods. It is advisable that you compare different services side-by-side, such as Direct TV versus AT&T Uverse. All of this is a great benefit to the customer, as more competition encourages lower prices in the end.

Dish Network vs Cox TV

Television has changed a lot over the past 10 years. A huge choice of channels to select from, flatter screens, HD picture. With new and continuously evolving technologies, plopping down in front of the television got a little bit more complicated. These days, the toughest decision is no longer choosing your favorite channel or what program to watch. It is whether you should pick cable or satellite TV.

Like many other decisions in life, you can make a pro and con list to help you weigh your options. Then come to a decision. We have assembled a short list for you here. This should help you out in a small way.

Let’s begin with the advantages of cable service. Whether it’s Comcast or Cablevision, digital cable is growing at a fast clip that its creators at Motorola are still happy with. Innovations in this new service have provided greatly improved picture quality. Plus there are so many more channels. All this comes at a lower price tag than satellite. Cable channels are also usually more accessible from multiple rooms in the house.

On the downside, however, Cablevision prices depend on where you are located as local taxes do have an impact on your monthly cable bill. Another factor, cable companies don’t easily have reach into rural parts of the United States. And since cable TV operators broadcast their signals from a home site, you should also be ready to pay more every month when they hike service fees. This is to update equipment that is required for your viewing experience. So, comparing its price to satellite isn’t quite a valid point of argument. It all ends up pretty much the same with all the added charges.

Now for the pros of satellite TV. Your television experience will match that of a cinematic experience. This is no exaggeration, I am being honest. Satellite TV services such as DirecTV and Dish Network promise hundreds of channels on HD. They also have that movie quality audio and picture displays. Because of the science behind satellite TV systems, it is readily and easily available in both urban and rural areas. Definite advantage to satellite.

As for the cons, starting up and purchase all the equipment at the outset can be a bit pricey. Also, satellite feed and reception is as moody as and highly dependent on the weather. Comparing services side by side, such as Dish TV vs Cox is the best way to comparison shop. It doesn’t matter how you make your choice. Flip a coin. Consult your friends and neighbors. It’s your tv, anyway. It’s your choice. Just make sure you don’t regret the pricey decision.

DIsh Network Foreign Packages

Which is the best choice in today’s market? People in the USA are now more likely to order satellite TV over cable TV for the bottom line reason that you receive more for your money with satellite television. You also get all of the best that television has to offer the customer. Not to mention the best price too. Satellite television costs less than cable by far. Today, with satellite television, you will be receiving hundreds of channels, audio and video, with your subscription. Cable companies charge you by how many channels you have, and that can add up in a hurry. Better yet, today you can get the DIRECTV Choice Extra package for much less than you would think.

If you want any extra premium channels such as HBO or Showtime, get ready with your wallet, because you have to be prepared to spend a lot of extra money. They rarely provide you with any service at all in the rural areas, thus satellite is the only game in these regions of the county. Cable companies will offer more stations in the urban cities, as there they have the potential for many more subscribers. So at times, a lot may depend on where you live in the country. While they are offering more pay channels in the suburban parts of the country, the number of channels you will receive overall depends on the cable operator, they aren’t always up to date with the most modern technology.

Satellite television on the other hand offers many more channels, and lots of programs that fit your interests. If you haven’t ever considered satellite TV, it may be time to open your mind to all that is now out there. As mentioned earlier you will pay less for the cost for satellite TV when comparing it to cable. Usually, cable TV can be very expensive because they have a large network to upgrade and maintain.

If you are the type of person that wants more for your money, and who isn’t like that, the certainly check into the two large satellite companies offering service to see what the can offer you today. Another point to consider is quality. Most of us have had the experience of receiving poor quality picture or sound from the cable company. Then when you call for resolution, it takes a long time for a technician to come out and fix the problem. While you may have problems from time to time with satellite TV, overall they have better customer service. Many satellite TV companies also have deals with local carriers like Verizon and Qwest, so you can have a combined bill.

Satellite TV offers the best in digital programming, and they back up their product with excellent service. With satellite TV you can also receive foreign language channels, for example the Dish Network French programming package and the DISH Latino Spanish bundle are excellent foreign languge options. Finally, if you have a family, including young children you can find much more for them as far as viewing choices. There literally hundreds of family and children’s programs for you to pick from. Combine that with a DVR, and you will always be able to entertain the kids. If great content is all you want, some satellite companies like Dish Network now offer 100% hi def packages now, called TurboHD.

Five Reasons to Switch to Direct TV

100% Hi Definition Service.

If you’re a cable TV subscriber, your service provider most likely carries around 20 to 50 channels in hi def. But if you have access to satellite TV, chances are you’re enjoying up to 100 channels that have nice crisp pictures and flawless reception.

Currently, not even the largest cable companies such as Comcast, Time Warner, Brighthouse, Cox Cable and Charter Cable can match up to DirecTV’s 130+ channels you can watch on HD. By the end of the year, DirecTV projects satellite TV subscribers will be watching up to150 channels in HD. Put that HDTV to good use and maximize your viewing experience through satellite television!

View More, Pay Less.

The pro-con list could go on and satellite would still emerge superior to its cable counterpart. However, it all boils down to this: You get to see more for a price that won’t burn a hole in your pocketbook. With satellite, you get more features, more movies, more music, more cartoons, more sports, more HD! You will receive more of virtually everything each month. Great sports programming like the NBA League package are also available for an extra fee. What more could a customer ask for?

Free Professional Installation.

Most cable TV companies charge you up to $100 for sending out a technician to hook up your television sets. Satellite TV providers Dish Network and DirecTV offer free installation and setup for your convenience. You no longer have to worry about reading the fine print or fees that cable companies (over)charge one time or monthly.

Multi-media Difference.

Radio on Your Television?! The limits of media are once again broken, but in a good way for the customer. Subscription to Dish Network gives you access to Sirius Satellite Radio to listen to the best music all day long once you’re tired of watching television.

Family Friendly Packages.

With your current cable subscription you get basic packages with channels picked for you. However, satellite TV services from Dish Network and DirecTV program packages that will cater to all members of the family. Everyone should be able to enjoy viewing without worrying what they young ones are seeing. These satellite packages ensure that kids see age-appropriate as well as educational shows.

Comparing your local cable company, such as Direct TV vs Comcast cable might save you some money. Switch now to a great Direct TV deal if you don’t want to regret missing out on anything.
